What does Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company (“Wysh” or “Wyshbox”) do with your personal information?

Why?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal and state laws give consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Personal information and identifiers: name, social security number, date of birth
  • Demographics: age, disability status, citizenship, gender
  • Professional or employment information: income, employment history
  • Education information: school records, degree, academic achievements
  • Financial information: bank accounts, assets/debts, account balances

What we do

How does Wysh protect my personal information?
To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal and state law. These measures include computer safeguards, access limitations, and secured files and buildings.
How does Wysh collect my personal information?
We collect your personal information, for example, when you:
  • apply for a product or make a claim.
  • link your accounts with our platform.
  • communicate and transact with us.
We also collect your personal information from others, such as affiliates, service providers, or other companies.
Why can't I limit all sharing?
Federal law gives you the right to limit only:
  • sharing for affiliates' everyday business purposes – information about your creditworthiness.
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you.
  • sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you.
State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing. See below for more on your rights under state law.
What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else?
Your choices will apply to everyone on your account.

Definitions

Affiliates
Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
Nonaffiliates
Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies. For example, we use service providers to perform business functions for us.
Joint Marketing
A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

Other important information

Some states provide additional rights to its residents. For our customers residing in AZ, CA, CT, GA, IL, ME, MA, MN, MT, NV, NJ, NC, OH, OR, AND VA, upon receipt of a written, verifiable request, you generally have the right to learn the nature and substance of personal information about you recorded in our files that is reasonably locatable and retrievable, see or obtain a copy of that information, and learn the identity of those to whom we have disclosed the information. If you believe that any of our records are inaccurate, you may notify us in writing of any corrections, amendments, or deletions that you believe should be made, and we will review and respond to that request. 100% digital: At Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company, we automate the underwriting process, application, and issuance of life insurance memberships through our product, the Wyshbox app. Users have the option to engage with our customer service through a live chat via our website, email, and telephone number—however, this is not a requirement.
Sign up in 9-ish minutes; less than 10 mins: You can get Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company memberships through the Wyshbox app. From beta testing users in the Wyshbox app, we've found that you can get coverage with us within 9-10 minutes. Times to complete the application will vary based on the specific circumstances of the application.
Instant Coverage: Instant Coverage means you can get covered under Wyshbox within minutes of confirming underwriting and signing your membership documents digitally.
Adjust Coverage Whenever: You can obtain, cancel, increase, and decrease a Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company membership within the Wyshbox app environment. Additional underwriting may be required.
If you die, your loved ones can get paid in days not weeks: To make a claim, we always need a completed claims form and a death certificate. Once we get these, our customer service team will verify all documents and work with the beneficiary to honor the deceased's Wyshes. We'll always try to work through these claims as quickly as possible; we aim to resolve claims within days of confirmation of the death. However, mitigating factors, including delays in receiving third-party verification and further investigation requirements of the death, may prevent us from doing this.
Extend until you're 65: At Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company, we offer term life insurance (form # ICC21.SL.TERM(06.2021)) to the age of 65. Extensions of policies that expire prior to age 65 may require additional underwriting and may not result in extended coverage.
Lock in lower rates / Keep Rates Young: Locking in lower rates and our "Keep Rates Young" feature are based on continuing at the same health level. Additional underwriting may be needed for extensions and changes of coverage that could impact rates.
Wyshes: Wyshes are a feature of the Wyshbox app, a product of Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company. Wyshes are a way for members to plan their life insurance needs and communicate to their beneficiaries how they'd like their life insurance spent. While the beneficiary is under no legal obligation to honor the Wyshes, if the beneficiary agrees to honor them, Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company customer service representatives will attempt to fulfill the Wyshes to the best of their abilities and in accordance with known laws and limitations.
Membership: Membership is a term we use to describe Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company policy holders and Wyshbox app users. We use this term because the experience we offer is ongoing, allowing customers to adjust coverage and modify Wyshes. Every customer that purchases insurance from Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company will also receive a document setting forth their policy.
Easy to Get: The adjective "easy" as used on wyshbox.com, the Wyshbox app, and any other advertisements or documentation discussing the insurance of Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company refers to the user experience. The word "easy" is not meant to imply or convey that everyone will qualify for or receive insurance from Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company.
